With the new release of 2024 Rosa Lee Rosé, we are building upon the momentum of this favored wine offering from ZD Wines. This wine is a blend of organically certified grapes from Napa Valley’s Yountville AVA: 80% Pinot Noir, 9% Grenache, and 11% Flora (a lesser-known aromatic white variety from crossing Semillon and Gewürztraminer). Harvesting all the grapes on the same morning and immediately blending them into one wine allows the unique characteristics of each varietal and vineyard to harmonize seamlessly.
After an extended growing season, all three blocks were hand-picked on October 8th. Our focus continues to be on capturing freshness of youthful characteristics while upholding the ZD style displaying opulent and concentrated fruit flavors. To achieve this and maintain the delicate-pink color, we hand-harvest our intensively farmed Pinot Noir and Grenache vineyards at peak ripeness during the cool morning hours, followed by the most gentle pressing.
Following a cold 2-month fermentation in stainless steel barrels, the wine rested for just 60 days prior to bottling. In the glass, a beautiful light-pink color leads to juicy aromas of fresh strawberry and candied raspberry, followed by subtle rose petal and slate. Crisp and lingering acidity leads into lively flavors of watermelon and strawberry, followed by a long and refreshing finish driven by grapefruit and drying minerality which leaves you ready for more.
