We are excited to release our 2023 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This distinctive vintage was formed by a cold winter and above-average rainfall, followed by a cool spring that delayed the start of the growing season. In early November (later than usual) the captivating aromas of fermenting Cabernet filled our cellars. The extended hang time delivered great concentration of flavors, while the mild temperatures preserved freshness and an elegant balance.

This Cabernet Sauvignon was crafted with our finest organically farmed vineyard lots in Napa Valley. It is an exceptional expression of ZD’s long-held belief in the art of blending, showing how different sites can come together to produce a wine greater than the sum of its parts. Each vineyard lot was fermented and barrel aged separately for one year before blending and then aged for an additional year in barrel to achieve depth and complexity.

The 2023 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon boasts a deep, dark purple hue and complex character. Notes of black cherry jam, baking spice, and ripe plum are layered with notes of cigar box, chocolate, and nutmeg. On the palate, the wine is bright and supple and exhibits a lush richness. Soft, balanced tannins creating a nuanced wine that is showing wonderfully now but will also age beautifully with cellaring.
