We are excited to release our 2021 Rosa Lee Petit Verdot! After the 2020 wildfires prevented us from producing this varietal, it felt great to return to our familiar habits of filling the cellar with dense, intoxicating aromas and having fun doing it.
Interestingly, being forced last year to replace Petit Verdot with Zinfandel was a blessing in disguise. The Rosa Lee Zinfandel was so good, we had to acknowledge its ability to enhance our Petit Verdot blend. This led us to assembling a final blend of 76% Petit Verdot, 12% Malbec, and 12% Zinfandel for this release. This three-varietal blend is pure synergy; while each player is distinctly unique, all three Napa Valley certified-organic vineyards display powerful dark fruit aromas, bright acid, and ultra-soft texture which lead to a seamless wine.
Deep purple in color, intense and complex aromas of candied blackberry and plum are backed by black cherry, clove, and anise. Juicy and bright on the palate with a silky texture, flavors of fresh plum and chocolate-dipped raspberry lead into a long, red-fruit finish. Only 18 barrels produced.
