This day honors Norman deLeuze, founder of ZD Wines, who had a “Passion for Pinot” and dedicated his time as a cancer patient to finding a non-toxic cure for treating his disease. Norman lost his battle with cancer in October 2007. The holiday season is a time to reflect, be thankful and rejoice. The deLeuze family celebrates the life of their founder; a great man who surrounded himself by the things he loved most: his family, friends, pinot noir, and research.

Special reception and update of present research and on-going efforts to find a non-toxic cure for lymphoma with Dr. Tuscano of UC Davis Medical Center.

12pm-4pm

In ZD’s tasting room, guests will sample 2007 Chardonnay before heading up to the Vineyard View Room, where award-winning photographers, Robert Holmes and Andrea Johnson will be signing their just-released book Passion for Pinot. To further support research for a non-toxic cure for lymphoma, $1 for every Passion for Pinot book sold through ZD Wines will be donated to the UC Davis deLeuze Family Endowment. This is a wonderful opportunity to taste ZD 1991 Pinot Noir, Carneros (17 years old!) from a 9 liter bottle. This special bottle will be poured along side ZD’s new release of 2007 Pinot Noir, Carneros. Resident artist and Partner of ZD, Julie deLeuze, will be creating and demonstrating how to make her beautiful hand-painted wrapping paper. In the cellar, guests will sample ZD’s new release of 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon, accompanied by artisan dark chocolate by Napa’s Vintage Sweet Shoppe. To finish the day, there will be a special wine for this special occasion: in the tasting room, guests will taste 2005 ZD Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.
