In honor of our Founder, Norman deLeuze, we have made the decision to continue with this commemorative labeling for our Reserve Pinot Noir. This 2008 vintage also marks our 40th anniversary. True to form, the Hanzell selection from ZD’s organically farmed and certified deLeuze Family Vineyard in Carneros supplied us with beautiful small bunches, tiny berries and concentrated flavors. Gentle winemaking practices, hand punchdowns during fermentation, and minimal rackings helped maintain the ultimate expression of our vineyard’s unique terroir. This wine was aged for 15 months in 100% French oak. Dark ruby/garnet color, forward black cherry and plum aromas mingle with subtle hints of cedar, bramble and toasted nuts. On the palate, the fruit and oak integrate beautifully leading to a long lasting, silky finish. Only 750 cases were produced.
