With its dark ruby color and intense nose of ripe black cherries and plums, this 2003 ZD Pinot Noir is an excellent example of what Carneros Pinot Noir has to offer. this wine is sourced from two vineyards, ZDs own organically certified deLeuze Family Vineyard, and soon to be certified Haire Vineyard. The wine was aged in 100% French oak barrels for ten months. This wine exhibits aromas of black cherries, plum and spice, with well integrated vanilla, toast and a hint of clove. On the palate this wine really builds, offering layers of sweet briary cherry, cocoa, vanilla and plenty of silky smooth tannin. The fruit lingers through the surprisingly long finish.
