Perched on a hillside at 1000 feet in Napa Valley, the Hossfeld’s vineyard was a labor of love. In the early 1980’s, they used sticks of dynamite to blast through rock to terrace the vineyard and create individual holes for the vines to be planted. It has to be one of the most extreme terraced vineyards in Napa Valley. ZD Wines has been buying Cabernet Sauvignon from their vineyard for 14 years. It makes up an integral part of ZD’s Cabernet Sauvignon blends, which focuses on low yielding hillside vineyards.
Aside from his vineyard, Henry Hossfeld is an avid fly fisherman. He used an ultra light fly rod and size 24 fly to catch and release this 27 inch, six and a half pounder. We look forward to many more years of dynamite fruit from the Hossfelds!
