Sommer came to ZD in 2008 to work in the Tasting Room, making a big decision to change her career. Unfortunately after graduating Napa College with degrees in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement, and working in the criminal justice field, she found fighting crime wasn’t quite right for her. But as one door closes another opens and Sommer found herself in the wine business.
If you have called ZD Wines over the past four years, you have most likely spoken to Sommer, whose role until last August was receptionist, controlling the ongoing flow of calls and inquiries. Her demeanor certainly brightened all who she spoke with and efficiently helped them with their needs. She has been the voice of ZD since 2008, and now after proving herself as an intelligent, hardworking staff member, she has grown into a new role in the accounting department.
Asked if she misses the action in the private investigators office: “Are you kidding, look where I work,” as she gazes out across the vineyards outside her window. “I work with such great people, in one of the most beautiful places on earth, and I really enjoy the wine business, especially the ‘wine’ part of the wine business.”
In her spare time, Sommer loves to spend time in the outdoors. You can find her riding her quad up in the hills of Napa, or camping and fishing with her husband Ryan and her family who are equally as enthusiastic about the outdoors.
This local Napa girl says she couldn’t be happier. Working in the world famous Napa Valley in a business she has come to love. “You never what twists and turns life will take, I’m just enjoying the journey,” she says.
