“With intense aromas of cassis, blackberry and plum and a dense concentrated palate this 2009 Napa Valley Cabernet is simply delicious! The grapes for this Cabernet were sourced from several small Napa Valley vineyards, each with its own unique “terroir”. Each lot was harvested separately and fermented in small stainless steel open top fermentors. Hand punchdowns every eight hours ensure an efficient, gentle extraction of color and tannin. Aged for two years in small American Oak barrels, this wine is drinking great right now and will, as all ZD Cabernets do, age gracefully for many years to come. We hope you enjoy!”

This 2009 ZD Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is bursting with complexity. Intense aromas of cassis, plum, ripe blackberries and subtle hints of clove, lavender and toasty vanilla support a solid core of ripe fruit on the palate. The balance is structured but elegant, with soft, velvety tannins and a perfect acid/tannin balance that will ensure its long term age-ability. The grapes are from several of our premium small, intensely farmed, low yielding Napa Valley vineyards including ZD’s own organically farmed Rutherford Estate. After almost a year in barrel as individual lots, the wines were blended and returned to barrel for an additional two years of “resting” in American oak barrels. This wine is a true testament to ZD’s belief in the art of blending. Enjoy! Only 650 cases were produced.
